In a shocking revelation that has everyone from Annapolis to Allegany County scratching their heads (and checking their event photos), Maryland Governor Wes Moore has reportedly taken a page straight out of Vladimir Putin’s playbook—by deploying a team of highly trained Moore mimics to appear at local events across the state.
The theory emerged after Moore was allegedly spotted at three different locations at the exact same time:
- Holding a shovel at a ceremonial groundbreaking in Bethesda,
- Comforting kayakers near the Inner Harbor where Johns Hopkins generously donated an oil spill to the aquatic ecosystem,
- And jogging casually through a park in Hagerstown, where residents noted he was “glowing suspiciously, like a hologram.”
“That man was too polished,” said Dolores Jenkins, 64, of Baltimore, who claims to have spoken to Moore at the oil spill site. “He nodded at me, but it felt like he nodded through me. That wasn’t a nod of empathy. That was a nod of firmware.”
The Governor’s office denied all accusations of stunt doubles, claiming instead that Moore’s “exceptional physical conditioning and omnipresent leadership” allows him to “run the entire state, appear in multiple cities per hour, and possibly quantum leap.”
But the science just doesn’t add up.
An anonymous insider from the Governor’s logistics team confirmed suspicions:
“Look, we tried to keep it simple—Wes wanted to attend all the things, wave at all the people, and sip microbrews in every county. But there are only so many hours in the day, and so many ribbon-cuttings one man can fake enthusiasm for. So yes, we hired a few actors.”
The Moore Multiverse
Sources say the Governor’s doppelgangers include:
- “Westley” Moore: A former regional theater star with impeccable smile control, deployed for groundbreaking ceremonies and awkward small business photo ops.
- “WesLite”: A vegan cyclist from Takoma Park, used for events requiring green energy speeches and interpretive dance.
- “Silent Wes”: A wax sculpture fitted with AI-powered nodding, placed in the background of Zoom meetings and press briefings.
And perhaps most egregious: “Crisis Wes,” deployed at the Baltimore oil spill. “He was wearing sneakers with a three-piece suit and smelled like Vaseline and Febreze,” noted one skeptical reporter. “Definitely not real.”
Putin’s Playbook: Localized Edition
Moore’s approach eerily echoes that of Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose rumored use of body doubles for public appearances has become the stuff of geopolitical legend. But while Putin uses his clones to avoid assassination attempts, Moore apparently just wants to avoid missing brunch at Busboys & Poets.
“He’s just very busy,” said his spokesperson, handing out pamphlets for an upcoming Moore in the Mirror statewide tour. “There’s a lot of Maryland to be seen in, and only one man—or five—to do it.”
Citizens React
Not everyone is upset.
“I don’t care which Wes Moore shows up, as long as one of them finally fixes Route 29,” said Howard County resident Thomas Green.
“Honestly, I’d prefer the one that doesn’t talk,” added Montgomery County teacher Angela Liu. “Just smile, wave, and pretend to care—classic governor stuff.”
Meanwhile, rumors swirl that Moore may soon introduce a MooreBot to take questions at town halls using ChatGPT technology trained on old Obama speeches and ‘The Wire’ quotes.
Conclusion
With 2026 reelection campaigns approaching and his national ambitions rising, one has to wonder—will the real Wes Moore please stand up? Or at least send a more convincing decoy?
Until then, Marylanders will continue playing their favorite new parlor game:
“Which Wes Was It?”
Stay tuned. Or just wave—one of them will wave back. Probably.
