Missing Kentucky Teen Found Safe in Montgomery County, Maryland After Two-Month Search

By Michael Phillips | MDBayNews

A months-long, multi-state search for a missing Kentucky teenager ended in relief just after Christmas, when law enforcement safely recovered 13-year-old Wynterbrooke “Wynter” Wagoner in Montgomery County, Maryland, and arrested the adult suspect accused of kidnapping her.

According to authorities, Wynter was located on December 26 inside a home in the 12000 block of Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring following a tip that led investigators to the residence. Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service, found the teen alive and took 37-year-old Christian Alexander Delgado into custody without incident.

Delgado is now being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit while awaiting extradition to Kentucky. The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that he faces kidnapping charges in connection with Wynter’s disappearance.

A Long Search Ends Safely

Wynter was last seen on October 14, 2025, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. Her disappearance triggered a wide-ranging investigation involving local deputies, state police, and federal authorities. For more than two months, her family and community lived with uncertainty, sharing missing-person flyers and pleading for help across state lines.

That effort ultimately paid off. After her recovery, Wynter was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Authorities described her as “safely recovered,” but declined to release further details about her condition, citing the active investigation and the need to protect her privacy.

Family Relief — and Ongoing Questions

Wynter’s father, Dustin Wagoner, released a statement expressing gratitude and relief, thanking law enforcement agencies in both Kentucky and Maryland, as well as federal partners, for their persistence. Family members have emphasized that their focus is now on Wynter’s recovery and healing.

Many key questions remain unanswered. Investigators have not publicly explained how Delgado and Wynter were connected, how she traveled more than 500 miles from Kentucky to Maryland, or what occurred during the time she was missing. Authorities have also not disclosed whether additional state or federal charges could follow.

A Case That Underscores Vigilance and Cooperation

From a concerned-citizens perspective, the case highlights both the dangers facing vulnerable minors and the importance of swift interagency cooperation. The successful recovery underscores how tips from the public, combined with coordination between local and federal law enforcement, can lead to life-saving outcomes.

For parents and families following similar cases, the message is twofold: remain vigilant about online and real-world threats to children, and continue to push for transparency, accountability, and strong investigative follow-through once suspects are identified.

As extradition proceedings move forward and investigators continue their work, more details may emerge. For now, the most important fact remains clear: a missing child is safe, reunited with family, and one step closer to healing after a frightening ordeal.
