Yes, you read that right. At a time when Maryland families are already tightening their belts, Moore has decided the solution to his budget mess is to take even more from taxpayers. And let’s be clear: this budget crisis is a disaster of his own making.
Just a little over a year ago, Moore inherited a $5 billion surplus from Governor Larry Hogan—a rare feat in modern state governance. Hogan’s fiscally disciplined administration managed to steer Maryland through a pandemic without gutting its economy, raiding taxpayers, or pushing the state toward insolvency. Moore, on the other hand, has turned that surplus into a deficit in record time.
How? Reckless spending, bloated bureaucracies, and a laundry list of progressive pet projects with price tags that make your head spin. From green energy vanity programs to top-heavy education reforms with no measurable outcomes, Moore has treated the state budget like his own Monopoly board—except the money’s real, and it’s ours.
And now, he’s expecting us to foot the bill.
The $1.66 billion tax increase is not just a fiscal failure—it’s a betrayal. It will affect everyone: families at the pump, small businesses barely hanging on, retirees who thought they’d earned a break, and young workers trying to make it in a state that’s becoming increasingly unaffordable. This tax hike is a direct assault on the economic future of Maryland.
Even worse, it’s proof that Governor Moore has no plan—except to tax, spend, and blame others when it all goes wrong.
Remember his campaign promises? “Leave no one behind,” he said. Apparently, that didn’t apply to your wallet.
